The companys loan products comprise home equity loans, mortgages, construction financing, vehicle financing, military loans, lines of credit, business loans, SBA loans, agricultural loans, term loans and working capital financing, equipment financing and leasing, real estate and construction financing, and trade finance products. It also provides investment and trading services; wealth management services, including investment management, diversification, and business succession services, as well as retirement, trust, and estate planning services; and insurance products, such as auto, home, life, and other insurance products. In addition, the company offers credit cards; and cash management, merchant, payroll, foreign exchange, online and mobile banking, international banking, capital market, and managed services, as well as business insurance. As of April 7, 2014, it operated approximately 600 retail and commercial banking locations in 19 Western and Midwestern states. The company was formerly known as First National Bank of San Jose and changed its name to Bank of the West in 1979. The company was founded in 1874 and is based in San Francisco, California. Bank of the West is a subsidiary of BancWest Corporation.
