The company operates in two segments, Institutional Securities (IS) and Financial Services. The IS segment provides financial advisory, capital raising, and sales and trading services for users and suppliers of capital. The IS segment is comprised of three divisions: Fixed Income, Equity, and Investment Banking. The Fixed Income division underwrites, trades, and distributes fixed income financial instruments, and offers derivatives and risk management products. The Equity division underwrites, trades, and distributes equity and equity-related products, including listed and over the counter derivatives, and risk management products. It also engages in securities lending and borrowing. The Investment Banking division provides financial advisory, securities underwriting, and placement services, as well as makes privately negotiated equity investments and acts as an investment advisor for private equity funds. The Financial Services segment provides international asset management and financial advisory services, which include fixed income and equity products, balanced products, money market products in multiple currencies, indexed products, real estate portfolio management, and alternative investment products. In addition, Credit Suisse also provides investment research and venture capital services. It operated in 69 locations, as of February 1, 2005. The company, formerly known as Schweizerische Kreditanstalt, was established in 1856 and changed its name to Credit Suisse First Boston in 1996. Credit Suisse (Deutschland) Aktiengesellschaft is headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland. Credit Suisse (Deutschland) Aktiengesellschaft operates as a subsidiary of Credit Suisse AG.
