Chinese drone start up Yuneec takes flight with more than $60 million from Intel Capital

Venture capital and investment arm of Intel Corporation, Intel Capital has invested more than $60 million in Yuneec, a Chinese drone start up. Yuneec will use the funding to accelerate product marketing and development. Founded in 1999, Yneec is based in Shanghai with offices in North America, Europe and Asia. According to market reports, besides Yuneec, Intel has also invested in drone companies Airware and PrecisionHawk. Intel’s chief executive Brian Krzanich and Yuneec’s CEO Tian Yu put up a short video which is partially shot by one of Yuneec’s Typhoon 4K drones on Intel’s website to announce the collaboration.
