Global tech and industrial companies under the radar of $5-billion fund launched by tech-focused investment firm GSR Capital

China-based, tech-focused investment firm, GSR Capital is launching a $5 billion fund that will invest in global industrial and technology companies. The firm will be looking at cross-border buyouts and M&A of industrial and emerging technology companies that have multi-billion dollar scaling opportunities in China, according to a statement issued by it. GSR GO Scale Capital Advisor which currently manages GSR’s existing GSR GO Scale Capital Growth Fund, will manage the new fund. GSR Capital came to the attention of many private equity and venture capital market players back in April, when it was among a group of investors that teamed up to buy a lighting component unit of Philips for $2.8bn, surprising a number of well-established private equity firms that had also been in the bidding.
