Rocana gets a $15 million investment from Google Ventures

The venture capital investment arm of Google, Google Ventures has led a $15 million round for Rocana, a provider of root cause analysis software, earlier known as ScalingData. With this, the company’s total funding comes to $19.4 million. General Catalyst, which led the previous funding round, also participated, as did Toba Capital, and Paul Sagan, a partner and XIR at Cambridge, Massachusetts-based General Catalyst Partners. ScalingData recently rebranded as Rocana, which is a shortened version of root cause analysis. The company’s products are designed to help IT operators monitor and support new shared services infrastructures in data centres, and to keep them up and running. Rocana was founded last year by a group of individuals whose previous companies had included Cloudera, Vertica and Experian and has offices in San Francisco and Boston.
